Being a big sister is hard. People never believe me, but it’s tough being a role model for someone, especially when you’re not that great of a person to begin with.
That’s my usual problem.
Right now, my little sister has just been dumped for the first time. It kind of sucks that I know exactly how it feels to be dumped, and can’t really say anything to make her feel better.
You’ll be okay kiddo, I promise.
I also hate being a little sister. Life is hard, yo.
My older brother is a douche bag that needs to be babied, and the minute he’s not he starts to cry. What the fuck? I don’t need to be babied, so why does he get to be? I basically have to tell him how to run his life.
Why is this okay? Your 24 year old sister should not be telling you to pay your bills on time. That is something you should already know.

An open letter to the student population ... on Dress Code
Listen,
I understand that you want to look hot or whatever, but there is no need to look like Ke$ha at school. I mean, listen, we’re all here to learn, not get a man. And although that may have been true a few decades ago, it really isn’t the case now.
I also don’t want to cramp your style. You could look nice and all. Don’t get me wrong. I also don’t want you to think that you should come to class in your pajamas (because then I would also be poking fun at you)… but come to class looking respectable. Don’t come looking like a tramp, ho, scallywag, whatever, [insert insult here].
There is a time and place to look trampy. I think a place of higher education isn’t that place. Would you like to see your doctor dressed in a hooker’s outfit? Personally, I know I wouldn’t.
But here’s the thing. You can choose not to take this advice. You can dress however you want. Because in the end, I’m not there, at your house, to dress you. Maybe you think showing off your ass at 9 am is acceptable. Okay… if you say so. But, don’t get mad when people 1) criticize you, 2) check you out, or 3) look at you. You’re a grown up, and people will judge your decisions. Yes, even on something as stupid as how short your skirt is.
I don't think that you should come in a three piece suit every day. But there's a way to look nice and presentable without having to be dressed to the nines. And look, you can look nice with tattered jeans, you just have to figure out how to do it.
“Well, we have the right to wear whatever we want”. While, this is true, somewhat… in some weird way, still doesn’t mean that being half naked is acceptable or right. I want to come to school in a bathing suit when it’s 110 degrees out, but I’ll get some stares that maybe I don’t want.
I'm also not saying that I'm a excellent dresser. I'm known for not dressing appropriately for the weather. However, I still manage to come out of my house looking nice and not trashy.
While the main points were really focused on girls, I should really address the guys too. I understand that the guys also think that because Lil Wayne gets away with showing off his boxers that they can too. No, it's not hot that you're showing me your boxers when I'm behind you on the escalator. I've seen school security stop many guys to tell them to pull their pants up. I applaud them for knocking some sense into the male population. Buy a belt. know that if you can't move in your jeans, you should buy a size bigger.
Another point, that, maybe applies more to girls than to guys: dress for your size. Like, if you're on the bigger size, don't dress in something that is not flattering to your body. There are clothes that fits well one some body types, and others that just don't. I think that this is probably the most important piece of advice I was ever given and now I'm passing it on: JUST BECAUSE IT ZIPS, DOESN'T MEAN IT FITS.
I know that everyone wants to be trendy. That's nice. But trendy isn't going to really cut it in that accountant job you're in school for. Ultimately, the bottom line is, you should learn to dress for the occasion and location. School isn’t a black tie event, nor is it a Playboy photo shoot.

Personal Book Challenge
I always feel like a douche when I go to the library. I know everyone goes in to just get what they want and leave, but I mean, I don’t even like standing in line to check out my book.
I had to check out The Glass Menagerie for class. I also wanted to check something else out for funsies, since I quit trying to read House of Leaves (for now anyway). I wish there were some sort of survey thing you could take at the library that would automatically recommend books that you may like that are similar to things you have
already read and liked.
But they don’t have that. That would have made my life easier. And more interesting. I just ended up checking out the book I needed and not anything else.
On my way home, I realized that me checking out more books would be like me buying books that are just sitting on my bookshelf. So I posed a challenge to myself … Read every book on this bookshelf (including House of Leaves).
Behind those shower gels, body creams, and perfume boxes are more books that have been purchased by me and have never been opened.
I’ve read some of them, and by some I mean like three. Or five. But yes, I will read every single book (except the texts books) on this bookshelf. I'll most likely reread the books I already read.

Why I don't give dating advice...
Listen, I love my friends, and I like helping them and lead them down a better path. But, I don’t like being asked for my advice if it’s not going to be taken. Or at least considered.
On that note, let’s get into this….
My friend was dating this guy for about a year and a half. They met in a class and hit it off. Love at first sight type deal. He was her first everything.
They recently broke up because they both had some sort of insecurity issue about the other cheating … and from what I gathered, it was something about a text message my friend’s friend sent her boyfriend from my friend’s phone. Did I lose you?
My friend has been having a hard time getting her ex to be “just friends”.
The problem is, he still loves her. She doesn’t love him.
After she asked me (which was a day after my other friend had asked me her FWB situation), I rolled my eyes and told her what I thought. I told her that as long as he still LOVED her, it wasn’t a good idea to be friends.
At first I thought she was going to follow my advice….
Today she told me that she told him they could be fuck buddies. But she quickly realized that it was a bad idea. In her words “now he’s getting attached, and it’s not what I want”.
“Duh, because he still loves you. And you’re basically leading him on…” I responded.
“I know! What do I do?”
Now, here I just paused, I didn’t know what to say. It just kept going through my head “GO BACK IN TIME AND CUT TIES LIKE I TOLD YOU TO!” And I understand that it’s hard. Both of their families are involved, and it’s just a mess… but still.
All I heard throughout the relationship and subsequent breakup was “he wants me to be something I’m not”.
“Here’s the thing,” I told her, time and time again, “You shouldn’t have to feel like you need to change for anybody. And if he wants you to change something that you don’t want to, you don’t have to”. But this fell on deaf ears all those times.
Although I didn’t really want to tell her this again, I did. Mostly because she gave me puppy dog eyes and asked me again “what should I do?” So I did. “You practically fucked yourself up, dude. You’re leading him on, and he probably thinks this is a road for you guys to get back together… and because you don’t want to, you’re basically hurting him more. And in the end, you’re both going to end up hurt. Just rip it off like a band-aid, it’ll sting at first, but it’s better to do it fast”.
So we both went to our respective classes after lunch, and in the middle of my lecture, I get a text message saying “we’re back together”. Except, I told you to do the opposite. I know it’s only a matter of time before I’m telling her to cut ties again. But, I kind of feel sorry for this guy. I mean, he’s like super attached to this one girl who was infatuated with him for a while and then lost all emotional feeling and only stayed with him for the “good sex” and the presents he gave her - this is a story for a different day.
Honestly, the both can do better. They both deserve better. But, if I say anything, no one’s going to listen.
