What’s even worse is when kids do it. Kids who think they’re grown ups.
This past Saturday, Chicago had it’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parades, city wide parties and the infamous dyeing of the Chicago River. When I came back home from witnessing the dyeing in person, I came on twitter and saw that this event was a trending topic. I wanted to see what people were saying and stumbled upon this little gem:
![]() |
| "That pic of the Chicago River died green for St. Patty's day jus really made me miss my city" |
And being me, I obviously had to be a smart ass and respond:
| We don't kill the river, we dye it. So it's not dead. It never 'died'." |
And a few hours later, after going threw a slew of other replies I found this:
| "get out my mentions please and thank you" |
I'm a big proponent that if someone does not want people to see what they are doing on the internet, they should have their profiles private. I put alot of my personal stuff on Facebook, and if you're just trying to find me, it will be a little difficult, unless you're friends with one of my friends because I left that open. Otherwise, you can't find me. I feel the same way about any social media outlet. In fact, Twitter is the only one I have PUBLIC and with my last name, mostly because I follow my sorority, and if they I want them to read my Tweets that talk about the organization, they can't read/respond if it is private.
So I gave @littlemiss_Jaz this piece of advice:
![]() |
| "Maybe you should have private tweets then." |
And maybe quite possibly also make her entire Twitter page private. Considering she doesn't like strangers showing up in her @Mentions. As of March 15, 2011, @littlemiss_Jaz still had a public profile. I hope she realizes that the internet is a cold place that doesn't really care if she doesn't want me in her @Mentions. I blocked out her name in the screenshots, but I mean, if you really wanted to, you can see her full name if you find her on Twitter. But I'm nice, so I won't be mean so I blocked it out.
I might as well have a spamgasm about this post on my Twitter and mention her. Just for funsies.

I never even thought about using twitter to just ridicule people. You just made it that much more awesome for me.
Haha, you should mention her on twitter! And true, if you don't want strangers to read your tweets, don't make them public!
FUck, are my tweeds public?
Ha! I had my profile locked until yesterday - I'll see how it goes!
Twitter is the only one I have that's public too. My facebook's hidden away...
