You're gonna get Alt-F4'd

Why do Facebook friends get mad when you don’t wish them a happy birthday?

I do check my Facebook everyday, but I’m not there to wish you a happy birthday. I’m really just there for selfish reasons. You know, like reading my wall, and seeing who has liked my status.

But look, I have some guidelines to how I wish happy birthday to people…

Family: My family will get a personal phone call and/or a birthday card mailed via USPS. Because I care.

BFF’s: Will get an email/Twitter Shout-Out/Facebook wall message/Text message, and if their birthday happens to be on a weekend, they will definitely get a drunk dial from me. Because I care.

BF’s (a peg below BFF’s, where BFF means Best Friend(s) Forever and BF means Best Friend(s) …): An e-card from Someecards.com and quite possibly a sober phone call.

The BF: Text, phone call, card, present and quality time. And if I have extra time, a baked good.

Friends: Facebook wall happy birthday wish.

If I’ve spoken to you twice in your entire life, chances are I’m not going to tell you happy birthday. It’s not that I don’t care. I’m just like, not really interested in telling you to have a great day on your birthday. Is the number of people who tell you happy birthday a better feeling than being told the same thing by people who care about you in real life?

And if we’re facebook friends and you expect me to say happy birthday… uh wow, there is something wrong with you. And if we’re still facebook friends, just know it’s because I’ve been too lazy to delete you from my friends list.

yes I have been ignoring birthdays like these for a while and had it been 2 years ago I would have probably thought that it would come to bite me in the ass-as in,I would be the lonely girl with no birthday wishes(gasp!)
Cheers!

I forget everyone's birthday.

If I don't know it in REAL LIFE, then I don't need to know it on Facebook. Rarely do I look to the right hand bar where the birthday notifications are.

Oh well!

Exactly. So I don't need people sending me a me messages asking why I didn't say happy birthday.

LOL

people are funny like that. Too bad I'm lazy and haven't deleted them.

I TOTALLY agree. I don't usually "wall" people happy birthday's unless I don't have their contact information, and if I don't have their contact information, they're not important enough to warrant a birthday message anyway.

That being said, I just deleted my FB account for a month, so let's see how many people actually stay in contact with me and/or realize I'm gone. Social Experimentation FTW!!!

I ignore most FB birthdays too. I get sad though when I don't have a millionty notification on my birthday so obviously I'm doing life wrong, or something.

Why would people get mad about that? I actually get annoyed when I get 764 notifications on my birthday from random people I never talk to saying the exact same, "Happy Birthday!"

Plus now I have so many FB friends that there is at least one birthday a day.

agreed. If you have met them whilst at some convention or whilst travelling, your not about to randomly write on their wall after having not seen them for a long time... pfft. Also, I hate it when people I haven't seen for gosh knows how long wish me a happy birthday. Nick off I say.
