I think I talked to a ghost...

For cereal.

My brother and his girlfriend had a baby on Tuesday. Over the weekend I went to Butt-Fuck Egypt (not their real location) to help them out a bit. To be honest, I just wanted to play with the baby for a while.

On Monday morning, I was rudely awoken by my alarm clock. It was time to go home. At 5:30 AM.

My brother drove me to the train station. Because, let's face it, I would have gotten lost during that 5 minute trek. But he just left me there. He didn't even walk me to the ticket place. Just dumped me in the parking lot.

Okay, so first things first ...

          1) I've never been to this hill-y suburb (seriously, too many hills)
          2) I have never taken the Metra to or from anywhere.

I crossed the tracks to go buy my ticket. Easy. But then the train I wanted to get on left while I was trying to cross the tracks. Since I'm against dying via stupid ways, I decided not to run across while the train was coming.
Once I was on the other side of the tracks, I kept looking at my phone to see when the next train came by. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw someone coming towards me. I thought "great, some weirdo is going to try and talk to me"... well... yeah, he did talk to me. But he wasn't necessarily weird.

"Are you going to Chicago?" He asked while still a good distance away.

"Yeah ..." Still thinking he was a weirdo trying to kidnap me.

"You can get on that train" he said while pointing at a parked train "It leaves at 6:08, and you can wait inside".

I thought, oh cool. This weirdo isn't a weirdo after all. We even crossed the tracks together.

He continued, "Are you going all the way to Union Station? This train skips a few of the suburb stops, but stops at every station in the City. And you can sit anywhere on the train."

I've never been on one of these trains so I was pretty mesmerized by it all and I just kept thinking to myself, why is this guy talking to me in the first place?

He pushed the button that automatically opens the door. It made a weird sound like when you open package and it lets out air. I said my thanks for him helping me out and I sat down near the train car's back door.

In the five seconds it took me to slide across the seat and look at my phone to check the time, the guy was gone! No one else was in that train car at the time. And I know for a fact he didn't leave. If he did, the door would have made a noise that would have echoed through the train car.

The scary growl

I’ve been really scared lately.

Like super cereal scared.

The other day, I was taking a shower. I was doing what I usually do in the shower… you know, the singing and the dancing… Don’t act like you’ve never done it.

Anyway, while I was drying off, I hear a really loud growl. I don’t know what it was. I’ve never heard anything like that in my life. It sounded like something was with my in the bathroom, growling at me. Like I was intruding.

I’m still trying to figure out what it was. Any logical explanation just doesn’t seem to fit with what happened.

Here are my theories, and why they don’t work:

Neighbors’ dog Theory 1: He wouldn’t be able to growl that loud. He’s a little yippy dog. When he growls, it sounds like he’s crying.

Neighbors’ dog Theory 2: Even if it was the neighbors’ dog, it wouldn’t explain why it sounded like it was IN my bathroom.

I’m all out of explanations. #sadface

This is how disturbed it has me; I actually posted this on another blog I write for before realizing it wasn't this one. It was published and everything.

Scary Stories III

It’s happened again.

Something scary. In my house.

I was just hanging out at my desk, multitasking. And then it happened. At first I thought it could be air coming in through the window in the closet. But that would only explain the closet door. And if it were that, the door would be doing this the entire time we’ve lived here.

The closet door and bedroom door opened at the same time.

I froze in my chair. I didn’t know whether to close the doors or not. I’ll admit, I was afraid that 1) I would not be able to close them or 2) they would open by themselves again. So, I just sat at my desk until the scariness passed.

After ten minutes or so, I closed the closet door. To be honest, I was scared a Boogie Man would come out and scream, or blow it’s hot breath in my face… but it didn’t. Thank you, Mr. Boogie Man.

I decided it was bedtime, but I was too scared to close the bedroom door. I contemplated closing it, because I like being in a little box while I sleep, and I don’t want people hearing me in case I start sleep talking. All I remember was turning off the tv.

When I woke up the next day, my bedroom door was closed. At first I thought it was my mom closing it. But when I asked her, she denied it.

I carried about my business as usual. Sat at my desk, chatted it up, ate some breakfast, did some homework, and BAM! It happened again. At this point, I was annoyed, I opened my bedroom window to see if it was windy, but as soon as I opened it, my bedroom door slammed shut. I know that this wasn’t because I opened the window, if the door did anything due to me opening the window, the outside would have to be sucking air out of my room to be able to slam the door. It wasn’t windy, and the air wasn’t being sucked out of my room.

One day, I’ll get to the bottom of this. For the moment, I’m scared of the scary.

Scary Stories II

When I was about 12 or 13, I pretty much had the entire apartment to myself. Now, tell me that's not fucking amazing?! It was. I always had my friends over, and they'd bring booze, and we'd just get drunk and order pizza.

There was a day that I couldn't get anyone to come over. They were all busy doing something stupid and no one wanted to hang out with me. Since all my friends were being lame-o's, I just sat in my living room watching tv.

I was afraid of staying in the house by myself, and knowing me, I knew I was going to fall asleep on the couch.

Our bathroom is right at the entrance of the apartment. If you leave the bathroom door open, and you try to open the door to the apartment it will hit the bathroom door very loudly. So that's what I did. I grabbed a bowl of cereal and watched tv, cursing my friends.

A while passed and my friend called me and told me she was going to come over. I said okay, and told her to hurry up. As I waited, I heard the lock of the door turn. I thought fuck, my mom's home ... now we won't be able to get high. But the front door never hit the bathroom door. I thought that was odd.

I went back to watching tv.

Again. Someone was totally trying to get in. This time you could hear the door knob turning too! But the doors never slammed together.

I decided to go take a look. I thought that maybe it was one of our neighbor's kids who got confused and thought our door was his door. It wouldn't have been the first time that happened. I walked out into the hallway expecting to see one of the kids... it was dead. No one was there. It was silent. But not just quiet ... it was an eerie quiet that I can't quite describe.

I went back inside. I closed the door behind me and locked it. I also set up the doors so I would hear someone if they happened to walked in.

My friend was finally downstairs. But being a lazy 13 year old, I just threw my keys out the window and told her to come up. I decided I'd wait for her in the kitchen. I hear the lock turn ... the actual clunk sound it makes when you've successfully unlocked the door. And then I waited for her to open the door and make the doors crash into each other. It didn't happen.

I checked the door ... it was LOCKED. I thought maybe she locked it. But I remember locking the door. I decided to go back into the hallway and slap her and to tell her to stop being an idiot and to just get inside. When I opened the door and stepped into the hallway, she had barely made it up to the third floor.

Scary Stories I

So it's October, and well, at the end of the month is the best holiday ever Halloween (also my friend Katie's birthday)!

In the spirit of Halloween and all that is spooky, I decided I would share with you guys some scary stories: real, made up, semi-real. Also a very special scary story for this month's Bloggerstock, which you'll have to wait for patiently, or impatiently. Whichever you prefer.

My house is really haunted. People never believe me and I don't know why. The only person that ever believed me was my friend Rocio. And I think she only believed me because we decided that we should play the Quija board in my living room and ask the ghosts in my house what time it was. First things first, there are no clocks in my living room. And I have the worst internal clock ever. One time, I thought it was 5 am, turned out it was only 11 pm. We asked the board/spirits what time it was and it told us the time. We had to go to the kitchen to verify.

The scariest thing that has ever happened to me was a not so long ago. I was having a hard time sleeping in my room. It was either too hot, or my bed just did not feel right. I thought that if I slept on the couch, I'd feel better. I grabbed my pillow and my blanket and headed to the living room.

I fell asleep almost immediately.

I began having this weird, very vivid dream that I was driving. Near my house is a long stretch boulevard that cuts through the entire city of Chicago. It's pretty neat because it cuts through most of the big parks. It's kind of cool too that it's the fastest way to get from one extreme of the city to the other. It's a very winding road.

I was dreaming that I was driving Piggy's new car (at the time). For some odd reason, he let me drive without a license, and told me to be careful. I was driving on the boulevard and I saw a kid walking across the street. I assumed he was going to school or leaving school (on each side there is a school). I began to slow down as to not hit the kid.

Apparently, instead of stepping on the brake, I stepped on the gas. I hit the poor kid with the car. I didn't know what to do so I just kept driving, but at each turn, I kept hitting the same kid. And at each turn, he kept getting bloodier.

Some how or other, I managed to get off of the boulevard and onto the grid-like system streets that define the city. I was making it home when the kid was at the corner in front of my house ...

I don't remember the rest of the dream.

For some weird reason, I woke up in the middle of the night. I sleep facing down. I was slowly turning so that I could see the living room. And as soon as I opened my eyes, I saw the kid I kept hitting with the car in my dream sitting on the floor! Right next to the couch I was sleeping on!

I quickly turned back around to face the wall and began telling myself that nothing was there. I didn't even think to look again. I was too scared. I had never felt that scared in my life.

In the morning, I told my mom. She looked at me as if I were crazy. She asked me if I had gone out drinking the night before, because sometimes I have weird dreams like that if I go to sleep drunk. I didn't. And then she told me that one time she was home alone, Piggy and I were at our dad's for the weekend and her husband was visiting his sister in North Carolina, when she saw something similar.

She told me that she fell asleep in the living room while watching television. Out of nowhere, much like I did, she woke up. At first she didn't notice anything and she started to fall back asleep when she heard someone walking in the living room. She thought that it might be our landlords' cat walking upstairs in the attic, so she brushed it off.

But then she heard giggling. And that scared her. She sat up on the couch and saw a little boy sitting in front of our television set with a bag over his head. Maybe it was the same kid, who knows. It's definetly scary being alone here sometimes. And even when you're not alone, scary things happen and other people who are here didn't hear or see anything. We moved into this house when I was about nine years old. And the scary hasn't stopped since.
